About this trip

Our flagship full-day charter out of Kuala Rompin, Pahang, built around classic live-bait sea fishing rather than jigging or popping. The day is spent bottom fishing and live-bait drifting over Rompin's reef structures and current lines, with a shot at a wide spread of species — Pacific sailfish, Spanish barred mackerel, cobia, snappers, groupers, great barracuda, yellow tail barracuda, and queenfish. Covers a full day on the water (roughly 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM), with boat charter, guide, fishing gear, drinks, and lunch packs included for up to 4 anglers, with room for up to 6. Ideal for anglers who want relaxed, bait-based fishing without needing prior jigging experience.

This is our flagship trip and the one we run most often out of Kuala Rompin, Pahang — a full day of straightforward, bait-based sea fishing rather than the more technical jigging or popping styles offered elsewhere.

The day is split between two techniques: bottom fishing and live-bait drifting. Bottom fishing has us holding position over known reef structure, sending live bait down for snappers and groupers. Live-bait drift moves with the current to work more mobile predators — Spanish barred mackerel, great barracuda, yellow tail barracuda, queenfish, and on the right day, cobia and Pacific sailfish. Your guide calls the technique and spot based on tide, current, and recent bites.

Kuala Rompin's waters offer varied light-to-medium tackle sea fishing. Sailfish and cobia are the headline draws, but snappers and groupers form a reliable backbone of most trips, with barracuda showing up often enough to be routine.

A typical day departs the jetty around 8:00 AM, breaks for lunch on board, and returns around 5:30 PM. No jigging or popping gear is used — all live-bait tackle is provided and set up by the guide, making this suited to newer anglers as well as experienced ones who prefer bait over lures.

Included in the RM3,800 flat rate: boat charter, guide, fishing gear, drinks, and lunch packs, covering up to 4 anglers. Up to 2 additional anglers can join at RM150 per pax, for a maximum of 6.
